About Kwara, Nigeria

Kwara State is located in the North Central region of Nigeria, with Ilorin as its capital city. It was established on May 27, 1967, following the restructuring of Nigeria from four regions into twelve states. Originally known as the West Central State, it was later renamed "Kwara," a local reference to the River Niger, which flows along its northern boundary.

Kwara shares borders with the Republic of Benin to the west, Kogi to the east, Niger State to the north, and Osun and Ekiti States to the south. The state’s geography blends savannah grasslands in the north with forested regions in the south, supporting both agriculture and commerce.
