Kaduna State is located in the northwestern region of Nigeria, with its capital city also named Kaduna. Geographically positioned on Nigeria’s Northern High Plains, the state features Sudan Savannah vegetation—dominated by scattered short trees, grasses, and shrubs. Its soil profile ranges from loamy to sandy, with notable deposits of clay in some areas.

Historically, Kaduna rose to prominence in 1967 as the capital of the North Central State, carved out from the Northern Region. In 1976, under General Murtala Mohammed, it was officially named Kaduna State. Later in 1987, the state was divided, giving birth to Katsina State under the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida.
